A moving endless sheet (2) of any material is provided with reference lines (4) or other marks for the performance of a particular action like a cut or a perforation. A signal is released by a sensor (18) when the reference line (4) is detected and transmitted to a pneumatically operated control element (13) extending in order to move a transversally positioned guiding unit (5). The control element (13) is made of an elastic material (14, 15) changing its expansion level as required.
