An improved design of wind powered generator for an electric supply has a vertical axis rotor with shaped vanes mounted in one floor of a building and with the building shaped to act as a wind concentrator for enhanced airflow onto the vanes. The system can be incorporated into any floor of a building and can be switched off by closing the outer shutters on the building. The rotor drives a generator via suitable variable gearing.
