COLOR FILTER AND LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE USING THE SAME

There is provided a color filter capable of effectively reducing the color shift generated when the liquid crystal display device is stepwise changed from white display to black display and realize color reproducibility with a sufficient intermediate tone. A liquid crystal display device using the color filter is also provided. The color filter (10) includes color patterns 10R, 10G, 10B of the red, green, and blue colors corresponding to the display area of each pixel of a liquid crystal drive cell (20). In the color filter (10), the contrast of the color patterns 10R, 10G, 10B of the respective colors (contrast of each color) is preferably in the following relationship. More specifically, when the contrast of the color pattern 10R of the red color is CR, the contrast of color pattern 10G of the green color is CG, and the contrast of the color pattern 10B of the blue color is CB, the CR, the CG, and the CB, preferably satisfy the relationship: CR < CG < CB. Moreover, the CR, the CG, and the CB preferably satisfy the relationship: CR : CG = 1.0 : 1.2 to 2.5, CR : CB = 1.0 : 1.5 to 4.5. It should be noted that the CR is preferably 700 or above.
