COLLAPSIBLE COLUMN FOR STEERING OF VEHICLE

A collapsible column for steering of a vehicle installed in the steering shaft of the vehicle so that a male shaft is non-rotatably and slidably fitted to a female shaft. The collapsible column comprises a pressure torque transmitting part transmitting a steering torque while pressuring between both shafts when the steering torque is equal to or less than a specified value and a rigid torque transmission part transmitting the steering torque by the contact thereof with a rigid body between the both shafts when the steering torque exceeds the specified value. The collapsible column is characterized in that a torsional rigidity generated in the pressure torque transmission part is equal to or more than 5 Nm/deg.
