An optical fiber connecting portion structure includes a fusion connecting portion where the ends of two optical fibers each having a core, a clad, and a UV coat portion are connected to each other. A part of the UV coat portion is removed near the fusion connecting portion. The partly removed part is re-coated. The re-coat portion is made of a material capable of absorbing the light radiated from the fusion connecting portion. With this, the light radiated from the fusion connecting portion can be infallibly prevented from coupling into another optical fiber outside and near the re-coat portion.
