Class 39(ii) [Also in Group II] A vaporizer for vaporizing metals to form reflective surfaces on electric lamp bulbs, comprises a conductive wire core of refractory metal, a finer refractory wire wound on the core with its turns spaced apart and a plating of metal to be vaporized covering the composite wire body, the vaporizer having a convoluted centre portion. The core 22 and winding 23 may be of molybdenum or tugnsten and the plating 24 of silver or'copper. Th convoluted portion 8 preferably surrounds one of two legs 6, 7, the ends of which engage conductor suoports 9, 10 in a cover 11 engaging an exhaust port 12 of an exhaust system. The vaporizer is annealed at 1300-1700‹C for 10 minutes in wet hydrogen before the coating is applied electrolytically; after plating, the vaporizers are fired in a hydrogen furnace for 15 minutes at 850‹C.
