The method for the presetting of a printing press entails using a drive (737) which is in signal communication with the presetting system for a movement of a turning bar (712) at right angles to the inlet direction of the paper web. By using the presetting system for the making available of established and/or stored production data, an actual position of the turning bar is compared with a predetermined required position for this production, and with a deviation a corresponding movement is effected to achieve the required position through adjusting commands on the drive. An independent claim is included for a turning bar of a printing press.
