<p>A method for extraction with a solvent wherein copper is separated and recovered from an aqueous chloride solution containing copper and elements coexisting with copper, characterized in that it comprises a first step of adjusting the chloride solution to have an oxidation-reduction potential (relative to a silver/silver chloride electrode) of 0 to 350 mV and then contacting and mixing the resulting solution with an extracting agent comprising an organic solvent containing tributyl phosphate as a primary component to extract copper selectively and a second step of contacting and mixing the extracting agent containing the extracted copper with an aqueous solution to thereby back-extract copper. The method can be used for separating and recovering copper with good efficiency from an aqueous chloride solution containing copper and elements coexisting with copper formed from a nonferrous metal refining process or the like, through extracting a copper ion selectively with an organic extracting agent, followed by a back extraction.</p>
