The mechanism has a contraction drive (1) with a flexible tube (2) placed between two end pieces. A pressure accumulator is arranged partly in the tube interior. A release unit (15) releases a fluid connection between a storage space of the accumulator and the tube interior such that compressed drive gas in the space flows suddenly into the tube interior to contract the drive to desired length.
