Amino acid particles, such is for example leucine, may be formed from an amino acid vapours, for example by aerosol condensation or by spray drying. A bulk density of the particles is not more than 0.1 g.cm-3 or having a mass median aerodynamic diameter of not more than 10 um, or being in the form of flakes having a thickness of not more than 100 um. It has been found, that inclusion of the amino acid particles in the form of powder into the dry powder inhalers improve the respirable fraction of the active material in the powder.
