The present invention describes a process or method for obtaining copper in solution from copper minerals, such as sulfides, by a modified conventional acid lixiviating process, which includes a catalyst agent useful for dissolving copper contained in said minerals. The aforementioned lixiviating process uses traditional media such as sulfuric or hydrochloric acid and ferric chloride or sulfate and introduces the catalyst that comprises ozone or a mixture of gas containing the same.
