<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for classifying the compositions of steel refining slag not suitable for recycling applications (i.e., limit compositions) into high concentration slag having a content exceeding the allowable upper limit value and low concentration slag having a content not exceeding the allowable upper limit value, and separately collecting them. <P>SOLUTION: In the method for separately collecting the slag generated in each step of the steel refining according to the recycling applications, the content in the slag is determined for the limit composition whose content is limited according to the application out of the compositions contained in the slag, the determined value obtained by determining the content of the limit composition is compared with the allowable upper limit value of the content set according to the application, and the slag is classified into the high concentration slag in which the determined value exceeds the allowable upper limit value and the low concentration slag in which the determined value does not exceed the allowable upper limit value.
