The lowest horizontal bar 31 of an accumulator grid is spaced from the bottom bar 18 of the frame by a smaller distance than the distance between the other horizontal bars. A row of smaller openings 32 is thus formed at the bottom of the grid and the loss of active material which is apt to be dislodged from the lowest openings is thus reduced. The grids are supported on members 25 and are covered by glass fibre mats and enclosed in perforated rubber envelopes on each side of which wood separators may be provided. |
