Disclosed is packaging cell line developed specifically for complementing recombinant adenovirus based on a serotype from subgroup B, particularly adenovirus serotype 35, wherein the cell line developed form primary diploid human cells or derivatives thereof transformed with either an E1 coding sequence from a subgroup B adenovirus, a chimeric E1 construct including E1A and at least part of an E1B-21K coding sequence from subgroup C and a E1B-55K coding sequence from subgroup B, or an adenovirus E1 coding sequence from subgroup C plus a E1B-55K coding sequence from subgroup B.
