<p>Process for preparing high purity 4-(3,4-dichlorophenyl)-3,4-dihydro-1(2H)-naphthalene-1-one with the formula I, by the reaction between o-dichloro-benzene and alpha-naphthol, in a solvent as reaction medium, in the presence of a Friedel-Crafts catalyst, which comprises the crystallization of the raw reaction product, with the formula I, at least once, from a polar solvent and at least once, from a non-polar solvent, the mentioned crystallization stages may be carried out in an optional succession, and the quantity of 4-(2,3-dichloro-phenyl)-3,4-dihydro-1(2H)-naphthalen-1-one product, with the formula II, is reduced to a proportion less than 1%. The compound with the formula I is a useful pharmaceutical intermediate. The advantage of this process is represented by the fact that there is obtained the desired compound, in a high purity form.</p> |
