The invention relates to a position signalling device for the motor drive systems of step switches, tap changers or plunger coils. The device consists of two separate sub-assemblies, a contact signalling group (1) and a position signalling module (6 and 7) respectiely, said module being spaced from the first one and which can have various configurations; the two subassemblies are electrically interconnected so that the information collected by means of the contact signalling group (1) can be transmitted to the position signalling module (6 and 7) where it is processed accordingly, depending on the nature of the desired signalling module and which can be easily achieved by choosing an appropriate position signalling module with an appropiate circuit diagram.
