PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pressure pump capable of suppressing deterioration of pump performance while ensuring durability of pump, and to provide a liquid ejector and a drive/stop method of the pressure pump. SOLUTION: When a pressure pump 18 is performing pressurization operation through extension/contraction of a diaphragm, an ASIC 66 calculates the pressure level of pressurized air based on a pressure sensor 21. When the calculated pressure level reaches a set level, the ASIC 66 waits, as it is, for a predetermined time and performs extra pressurization by driving the pump excessively thus raising the pressure level of pressurized air up to a level higher than a normal level. After extra pressurization, the ASIC 66 begins to detect position of the diaphragm and stops a pump motor 28 when the diaphragm is at the home position thus bringing the pressure pump 18 into stopping state.
