PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable stable airtight sealing of an optical module by eliminating refusing of a solder fixation part between a metal ferrule and an optical fiber and suppressing thermal effect on an optical fiber resin coating part. SOLUTION: The optical module comprises an optical fiber comprising a resin coating part where an optical fiber is coated with resin and an optical fiber exposed part where the optical fiber is exposed from a tip of the resin coating part, and a metal ferrule provided with a through hole with which a large hole where the resin coating part can be inserted, and a small hole where the optical fiber exposed part can be inserted are linked, and is characterized in that: the resin coating part is inserted into a portion of the large hole; the optical fiber exposed part penetrates the small hole from the rest part of the large hole; the optical fiber exposed part is fixed in the small hole with solder; the resin coating part is fixed in the large hole with an adhesive; and a heat radiation mechanism is provided at an outer periphery of the metal ferrule at the part where the resin coating part and adhesive are present in the large hole.
