PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a header tank for a heat exchanger capable of reducing the number of part items, with excellent workability when manufactured, and capable of enhancing heat exchange performance of the heat exchanger, and the heat exchanger using it. SOLUTION: Each of the header tanks 2, 3 is constituted by layering and brazing a header part forming plate 7, a tube connecting plate 8, and an intermediate plate 9 interposed between the both plates. The respective plates 7, 8, 9 are formed by press-work of a metal sheet. Outward bulged parts 11A, 11B, 24 with an opening closed by the intermediate plate 9 are formed in the header part forming plate 7. A plurality of tube insertion holes 18 is formed in the tube connecting plate 8. Through holes 22 are formed in the intermediate plate 9 to communicate the respective tube insertion holes 18 with insides of the outward bulged parts 11A, 11B, 24. Both end parts of each heat exchange tube 4 are inserted into the each tube insertion holes 18 to be brazed to the tube connecting plate 8. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
