PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve ice making efficiency by shortening deicing time of an automatic ice maker. SOLUTION: The automatic ice maker is provided with an ice making chamber 60 having a multiplicity of ice making compartments 60a opening in a lateral direction, and flushed with hot gas and supplied with deicing water during deicing operation, and a water tray 12 positioned in an ice making position closing the ice making compartments 60a during ice making operation, producing ice cubes in a space with the ice making compartments 60a, and moving to a deicing position away from the ice making chamber 60 by a change-over to the deicing operation. In the automatic ice maker, by moving the water tray 12 to the deicing position with the ice cubes in frozen states during the deicing operation, chunks of ice are taken out from the ice making compartments 60a, and the ice cubes are separated and dropped at the deicing position. During the deicing operation, when an ice making completion thermostat Th detects that a temperature of the ice making chamber 60 has reached a predetermined temperature, the deicing water is supplied from a second deicing water spray pipe 25 to heat the water tray 12.
