PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a waste combustion method in a stoker furnace, and the stoker furnace, capable of reducing an exhaust gas, miniaturizing the furnace, and minimizing the generation of harmful substances such as NOx and dioxin. SOLUTION: In this stoker furnace where a primary combustion chamber 12 is sectioned at an upper part of a stoker 14, the high-temperature primary air 22, 23 is introduced to the primary combustion chamber 12 from a lower part of the stoker by an air ratio of about 0.5 or less to mainly perform thermal decomposition of the waste, and a secondary combustion chamber 13 for secondarily burning an unburnt gas generated from the primary combustion chamber by introducing the secondary air, is sectioned at an upper part of the primary combustion chamber 12, a reduction area 32 is formed by introducing the secondary air 24a to just above a waste layer, and an oxidation area 31 is formed by introducing the secondary air 24b having an air excess coefficient higher than the secondary air 24a to an upper part of the reduction area 32, in the secondary combustion chamber 13.
