PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce an axial dimension of a torque converter by narrowing an interval between a pump hub and a turbine hub. SOLUTION: In this torque converter T provided with a free wheel 11 between a stator hub 4h and a stator shaft 12, an outer race 15 of the free wheel 11 is fixed to the stator hub 4h in a state of exposing its axial both end faces, a pair of thrust needle bearings 34, 34' are respectively mounted between the outer race 15, and the pump hub 2h and the turbine hub 3h in a state that a group of needle rollers 34a are kept into contact with both end faces of the outer race 15, and a pair of end plates 35, 35' respectively kept into contact with the pump hub 2h and the turbine hub 3h for controlling the axial movement of a cage 18, are mounted at inner peripheral sides of the thrust needle bearings 34, 34'.
