PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optically active column packing material for gas chromatography which shows excellent separability to a wide range of enantiomers. SOLUTION: There is provided a substituted cyclodextrin represented by formula (1), wherein R<SB>1</SB>denotes a t-butyldimethylsilyl group, a triisopropylsilyl group or a t-butyldiphenylsilyl group; R<SB>2</SB>denotes an alkoxymethyl group which may optionally be substituted; and n is 6, 7 or 8.
