PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical semiconductor catalyst carrying fiber capable of being manufactured at a low cost without using an expensive special binder.

SOLUTION: The optical semiconductor catalyst carrying fiber (834) is carried with apatite (835) having photocatalyst function. The optical semiconductor catalyst carrying fiber (834) is provided with a core part (832); a covering part (833) for covering the core part (832); the apatite (835) carried on the covering part (833) so as to be exposed to air side of the covering part (833) and having the photocatalyst function.
