<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To substantially remove or lighten interference to be produced between an optical signal to be added and optical traffic being in the course of communication in a network already, when the optical signal is added to the network or the like from a certain component. <P>SOLUTION: A method for management of directly connected components includes a step of receiving a source optical signal for communication with an optical network. The source optical signal comprises one or more source channels. This method includes a step of monitoring optical traffic communicated on the optical network to determine one or more network channels of the optical traffic, and a step of discriminating network channel information of the one of more network channels.
