<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermophotovoltaic generator with high power generation efficiency by preventing leakage of light to the outside of the generator. <P>SOLUTION: This thermophtovoltaic generator comprises: a combustion chamber 2; an emitter 3 having a shape surrounding the combustion chamber 2, and emitting the infrared ray heated to a high temperature by combustion in the combustion chamber 2; a plurality of photovoltaic cells 7 arranged on the opposite side to the direction of the combustion chamber 2 of the emitter 3 and at least being opposed to a part of surfaces of the emitter 3. The surface of the emitter 3 side of the combustion chamber 2 comprises a reflecting surface 4a. Thus, the radiated light directed toward the inside of the combustion chamber of the emitter 3 is recovered again by the emitter 3.
