PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a display device that can improve the strength of a liquid crystal display panel against external forces, while keeping the production efficiency high. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method includes a chemical polishing process of chemically polishing a substrate for a plurality of display panels to make the substrate thin; a cutting stage of cutting the substrate for the plurality of display panels into the plurality of display panels after the chemical polishing process; and a back substrate polishing process of polishing an area, including at least the center of a back substrate on the top surface of the back substrate on the opposite side of the display panel from the observation side, after the cutting process, the display panel which is≤0.5 mm in thickness for each substrate and≤1.1 mm in total thickness, excluding an optical film of the display panel.
