PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of realizing fast and proper focusing control, by correcting the parallax between a photographing lens and the optical system of a range finder. SOLUTION: Parallax information, showing relative position relation between a plurality of positions (distance measured position) measured by the range finder etc., and a photographic area CA and relation to the distance from the imaging device 1, is pre-stored to a ROM etc. Distance measurement values of the respective distance measured positions are calculated, based on data for distance measurement from the range finder, and relative position relation between the actual photographic area CA and the plurality of distance measured positions MA1 and MA2 is recognized, based on the parallax information and the distance measurement values of the respective distance measured positions. Further, the distance measured position, which is the closest from a nearly the center position of live view among the plurality of distance measured positions, is detected as a focused position FP based on the recognized position relation, and the photographic lens is brought under focusing control, based on the distance measurement value of the detected focused position FP.
