REPRODUCING DEVICE AND METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the inconveniences caused by the level differences between music pieces and the environments when reproducing. SOLUTION: A level conversion mode (reproduction compressor mode)is provided to compress the dynamic range of the reproduced audio signals. The user operates to select ON or OFF of the level conversion mode. A compression operation to linearly compress the dynamic range in the level conversion mode is performed when it is set on. Alternatively, the level difference between the musical pieces is reduced with less dynamic range compression of the music itself in the gain control. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
