The invention relates to a voluminous electrode system consisting of at least one single electrode per square centimetre, arranged on an electrode support surface and with a fluid medium flowing around the electrodes in vertical laminar, parallel laminar and/or turbulent flow regimes. The invention also relates to the use of such a system.
