The device includes a lancet (11), needle, or similar tool, held in a housing (2,3). The housing has an opening (12) which can be closed by a protection device. The lancet is moved in the housing by a movable actuator from a pre-tensioned trigger position into a released, piercing position through the opening, and then into a rest position, set back into the housing.
