In a device (1) for implanting a cardiac pacemaker and/or defibrillation electrode (ED) in a blood vessel or vein, having an introduction sleeve (3) introducible into the vein using a guide wire and at the proximal end a sealing device (5) (with at least one seal) for (in the 'use' position) externally sealing ED against loss of blood via the sleeve, the sealing device and seal are subdivided at least once and the divided parts are relatively movable, so that ED passes between these parts for introduction. Subdivision of the seal is transverse to the motion of ED, and the subdivision edges press against ED (in the 'use' position) to create a seal.
