METHOD AND DEVICE FOR CRIMPING SYNTHETIC FIBERS FOR HAIR

Synthetic fibers for hair closely resembling human hair in form and feeling are produced with high productivity and no variation in quality. That is, a crimping method characterized by comprising the steps of warping a fiber bundle (t) of synthetic fibers made of thermoplastic resin to a predetermined thickness by a fiber separation and supply means (2), intermittently supplying the fiber bundle into between the pair of compression plates (11, 12) of a heating and compressing means (1) provided with the pair of compression plates (11, 12) having unevenness of mesh pattern on the surface, a compression means and a heating means, by a length corresponding to the effective treatment length of the compression plates (11, 12) at a time along the direction of fiber axis of the fiber bundle (t), heating and compressing the fiber bundle (t) between the compression plates (11, 12) to crimp the synthetic fibers, and taking up the crimped fiber bundle (T) by a take-up device (3), thereby continuously crimping the synthetic fibers along the direction of fiber axis.
