<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent improper operation by detecting any abnormality by other electronic control units when re-writing a control program stored in one of a plurality of electronic control units connected to each other via a communication line. <P>SOLUTION: In a communication device of an on-vehicle electronic control device, a control program stored in a plurality of electronic control units mounted on a vehicle and connected to each other via a communication line is re-written by using an external tool connected to the communication line. The electronic control unit 10 for re-writing prolongs the self-shut time which is predetermined based on the write start requesting signal from the external tool 20. After the predetermined self-shut time is elapsed, the control program is re-written based on the data transmitted from the external tool 20, and the power supply is turned off based on the extension completion signal from the external tool 20. The electronic control units 12, 14 not for re-writing turn off the power supply after the predetermined self-shut time is elapsed if the write start requesting signal from the external tool 20 is received. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
