<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately and speedily perform visual inspection on packages of bottle containers etc. by clearly distinguishing original defective parts such as stains, burning, and ungelatinized parts in gray level images of the packages of the bottle containers etc. from non-defective parts caused by the shape of the containers, irregularities in beads and wall thickness, etc. and reliably extracting the defective parts. <P>SOLUTION: This package inspection apparatus is provided with both a one-dimensional line sensor 1 for imaging, inputting, and converting the appearance of the packages of bottle containers 10 etc. to be inspected into gray level images from analog to digital form indicating the contrast of the external surface of the packages pixel by pixel and an image processing device 2 for cutting prescribed frequency components from the gray level images of the packages of the bottle containers 10 etc. to be inspected acquired by the one-dimensional line sensor 1 on the basis of a filter factor acquired on the basis of gray level images of reference conforming packages, creating filtered images from which defect candidate parts are extracted, counting pixels of the defect candidate parts of the filtered images, and judging the quality of the packages of the bottle containers 10 etc. on the basis of the count of pixels and the number of continuous pixels. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
