WIDE AREA MONITORING SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wide area monitoring system allowing maintenance work executed before an abnormality is found in a device to be monitored by remotely controlling the device to be monitored through a programmable controller (PLC) from a cellular telephone or the like.

SOLUTION: The wide area monitoring system is provided with: a surveillance camera 1 photographing the device S to be monitored; the PLC 2 applying input/output control to the device to be monitored S and recording surveillance data on the surveillance camera 1 and input/output control data on the device to be monitored S; a data server 3 comparing the surveillance data with the past data in an abnormal mode based on the present picture photographed with the surveillance camera 1 and the surveillance data of the PLC 2 and calculating a warning forecast for the device to be monitored S; external terminal equipment 4 constantly carried by a guard; a warning forecast transmission means transmitting the warning forecast to the external terminal equipment 4 from the PLC 2; a data assurance means assuring the surveillance data of the PLC 2 from the external terminal equipment; and a remote control means operating the input/output control for the device to be monitored S from the external terminal equipment by means of the PLC 2.
