PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for simply connecting a photonic crystal fiber and another optical fiber or photonic crystal fibers by themselves with a low loss. SOLUTION: In the fusion splicing method between the photonic crystal fiber 10a comprising a core part 1 which has a refractive index higher than that of a clad part 2, the clad part disposed on the periphery of the core part and four pieces or more of pores 3 disposed on the clad part so as to surround the core part, or between the photonic crystal fibers by themselves, the neighborhood of the connection part 14 of the photonic crystal fiber is heated and, thereby, a tapered pore part 15 where the pore becomes tapered at narrow down is formed.
