MICROPROCESSING METHOD FOR GLASS AND MICROPROCESSED GLASS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanical processing method for a glass for applying microprocessing to the glass without causing a crack and a chip on a processed face and also efficiently and to provide the microprocessed glass formed by the method. SOLUTION: In the microprocessing method for the glass, the composition of at least a part of the glass is changed to a composition different from the composition of other parts by an ion-exchange treatment or the like, thereafter the microprocessed structure is formed at a part having a different composition by either one of cutting, grinding or polishing or a mechanical means obtained by combining these. The microprocessed glass is the glass microprocessed by the method and the microprocessed surface has a mirror like surface where no crack and chip is generated. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
