PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an industrially suitable method for producing 4,5-dialkoxy-2-formylaminobenzamide, capable of obtaining the 4,5-dialkoxy-2-formylaminobenzamide in a simple method. SOLUTION: This method for producing the 4,5-dialkoxy-2-formylaminobenzamide expressed by formula (2) [wherein R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP>are the same or different and are each a group which does not associated with the reaction and may have a substituent, and the R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP>may form a ring by bonding each other] is provided by performing the reaction of 4,5-dialkoxy-2-aminobenzamide expressed by formula (1) [wherein R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP>are each the same as above] with formic acid in an organic solvent.
