PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for transferring an image recorded on a transfer sheet surely on a material to be transferred, without damaging the color density of the image recorded on a colored transfer layer of the transfer sheet, and without forming disorder such as the peeling or cracking of the transfer layer transferred on the material to be transferred. SOLUTION: This method for transferring the image is constituted by recording the image on the transfer layer by using a transfer sheet constituted of a substrate and the transfer layer capable of being released from the substrate, having heat-adhesion property and being colored, and then in a state of overlapping the surface side of the transfer layer, on which the image of the transfer layer is not recorded, on the material to be transferred, heating/compressing from the surface side of the material to be transferred which is not adhered with the transfer layer. Then, by heating/compressing from the surface side of the material to be transferred not adhered with the transfer layer, the transfer layer is strongly transferred, and it is possible to transfer the image together with the transfer layer on the material to be transferred without damaging the color density of the image recorded on the transfer layer together with the transfer layer.
