PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To collect information for specifying a defective spot by connecting a diagnosis device to a vehicle monitoring module, without accessing a plurality of information sources with different means by a vehicle mechanic. SOLUTION: Concerning this vehicle monitoring device equipped with an interface for communicating with the diagnosis device, ECU, a server device and a GPS receiver, when the diagnosis device is connected to the vehicle monitoring device loaded on the vehicle, the vehicle monitoring device establishes communication connection to a proper information source and receives a diagnosis request from the diagnosis device. The vehicle monitoring device receiving the request from the diagnosis device selects a communication means and a communication connection place based on the vehicle state and the communication state acquired from LAN in the vehicle, acquires information corresponding to the request from the diagnosis device from the selected connection place, transmits the information to the diagnosis device, and thereby displays maintenance information necessary for inspection/repair of the vehicle on a display of the diagnosis device.
