PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cap nut for insert casting casting which is adaptable to a repeat-usable pattern for sand mold, can imprvt the productivity of a casting, can reduce its production cost, and has high latitude of design such as that the area of a bearing surface can sufficiently be secured, and to provide a casting method using the cap nut for insert casting. SOLUTION: The cap nut is composed of a cap nut main body 11 inserted with the cast material and an extended cylindrical part 12 embedded into the sand mold 22 being the mold, and the cross-sectional almost V-shaped notching part 17 is arranged between the cap nut main body 11 and the extended cylindrical part 12 and an inserting hole 13 penetrating the extended cylindrical part 12 coming to the cap nut body, is bored. A tapered face 14 widened from the end part of the cap nut main body 11 toward the extended cylindrical part 12, is formed on the outer peripheral surface of the cap nut main body 11 and also, a preventive means for through-out to the cast material is arranged in the reverse tapered face 14, and the cap nut body 11 is freely attached/detached to the pattern 10 for sand mold through the tapered face 14.
