PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adamite roll for hot rolling having excellent wear resistance and rough skin resistance, and excellent seizure resistance. SOLUTION: The adamite roll for hot rolling has an outer layer material having the composition consisting of, by mass, 1.5-2.5% C, 1.4-2.2% Si, 0.3-1.2% Mn, 1.2-2.6% Ni, 0.8-1.7% Cr, 0.4-2.1% Mo, 0.01-0.05% B, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities while satisfying inequalities (1): Ni + 2.3(C+1/3×Si)-7.6>0, and (2) Ni+3.7 (C+1/3×Si)-12.4<0.
