[MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] The apparatus for analyzing a polymer comprises a tunable infrared laser output section, an ion trap section for holding an ionized sample, and a section for performing mass spectrometry of the sample held at the ion trap section, and is characterized in that the sample held at the ion trap section is irradiated with a laser beam outputted from the infrared laser output section, thereby being cut.
