<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for washing laver designed to remove impurities sticking to cultured laver. <P>SOLUTION: This apparatus 1 for washing the laver is equipped with a tank 3 and an inner cage 5 installed in the tank 3 and having a plurality of water flow holes 17 in a sidewall 15 and a stirring member 11 having a support 7 and stirring blades 9. The cross-sectional shape of the inner cage 5 is formed into a polygonal state and the water flow holes 17 arranged in the upper part of the sidewall 15 are larger than the water flow holes 17 arranged in the lower part of the sidewall 15. A window 23 communicating with the inside and outside of the tank 3 is provided in the upper part of the wall surface 47 of the tank 3 and a discharge tray 25 surrounding the tank 3 is installed. The vertical positions of the stirring blades 9 can preferably be changed by making the stirring blades 9 slidable relatively to the support 7.
