<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic camera with variable sensitivity for suppressing overexposure in the case of using a flash. <P>SOLUTION: An arithmetic circuit 101 calculates an exposure excess/deficiency amount (ordinary light excess/deficiency amount) dDC of surrounding light (ordinary light) other than the light of a built-in strobe and corrects an imaging sensitivity correction amount SVreq required for correcting the exposure excess/deficiency at main light emission in response to the value dDC to calculate a final sensitivity correction amount ΔSVs.
