PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrolyte for electrolytic capacitor that is high in sparking voltage and electrical conductivity and excellent in chemical producibility. SOLUTION: The electrolyte for electrolytic capacitor containing carboxylic acid and/or its salt also contains 1-20 wt% pivalic acid and/or its salt and 1-15 wt% 1,6-decanedicarboxylic acid and/or its salt.
