PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a PDP capable of improving luminance and contrast in a bright room by improving the structure of an upper substrate. SOLUTION: The PDP comprises lower and upper substrates that are alienated from each other for arrangement and form a discharge space between the substrates; a plurality of barrier ribs that are provided between the lower and upper substrates, divide the discharge space, and form a discharge cell; a plurality of address electrodes that are formed in parallel with each other on the upper surface of the lower substrate; a plurality of discharge electrodes formed in a direction crossing the address electrode at the lower portion of the upper substrate; a phosphor layer formed on the inner wall of the discharge cell; an external light shielding member formed on the upper substrate to prevent external light from flowing into the discharge cell. In this case, on the lower surface of the upper substrate, a plurality of cylindrical lenses, which focus visible light generated from the discharge cell by discharging for emitting the light to the outside, are formed in parallel with the address electrodes.
