PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable reading out data recorded in a recording medium when recording processing is not finished normally. SOLUTION: In a recording a and reproducing apparatus, an AV file is divided into stream units 111 and recorded in an optical disk, and a system log-information 201 is recorded in the stream units 111 and an auxiliary area 112 existing in a continuous recording area and being reservation area for recording a voice file or the like afterward. The system log-information 201 includes FID 221 being management information of a file system, file entry (FE) 222 of the auxiliary region, file entry (FE) 223 of an AV file, a movie information file (movie) 224 being management information of application, or the like.
