PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluid machine with a compression mechanism and an expansion mechanism, wherein the quantity of heat coming from extra lubricating oil, not used for lubricating the compression mechanism and the expansion mechanism, into fluid flowing in the expansion mechanism is reduced. SOLUTION: A compression/expansion unit 30 as the fluid machine has one casing 31 storing both the compression mechanism 50 and the expansion mechanism 60. A shaft 40 connecting the compression mechanism 50 to the expansion mechanism 60 has a lubricating passage 90. Refrigerant oil residing on the bottom of the casing 31 is pumped up to the lubricating passage 90 and supplied to the compression mechanism 50 and the expansion mechanism 60. The extra refrigerant oil, not supplied to the compression mechanism 50 and the expansion mechanism 60, is discharged from the terminal of the lubricating passage 90 opening to the upper end of the shaft 40. Then, the extra lubricating oil flows from a delivery hole 101 into a oil return pipe 102 via which it is returned to the side of a second space 39. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
